January 9, 2010 is the date of opening of the Canadian Home Furnishings Market at the International Centre in Toronto, which is going to last for days, until January 12. Interestingly, two prestigious, well known European luxury brands will be represented there for the first time.

Cable cars – the answer to Toronto transport issues? Cable cars, not streetcars might be the solution to the issue of Toronto's public transport. That is according to Steven Dale, planner and designer from Creative Urban Projects. He believes that cable technology could significantly decrease costs and be available for more people at the same than the streetcars in Toronto are.

Canadian resale home prices increased in October January 1, 2010
According to a report released on Wednesday, resale prices for Canadian homes increased for a sixth month in a row in October 2009. The House Price Index by Teranet National Bank shows that resale prices rose by 1.3 percent from September to October. This is actually the first annual rise in ten months - from October 2008, the prices increased by 0.6 percent.

GTA Housing Starts in November 2009 December 30, 2009
Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation has released a new, 47-pages long report about housing starts in GTA in November 2009. Unfortunately, the statistics do not seem to be very positive. Housing starts have actually decreased to 2,514 units last month, following three increases in a row.

Toronto 2015 Pan/Parapan American Games Toronto 2015 Pan/Parapan American Games, a huge international sport event for athletes, have officially announced a 12-member Board of Directors. As one of the its first tasks, the Board will choose an executive officer along with a management team helping to organize the huge event taking place in 2015. The Canadian Olympic Committee is "eager to work with all partners as logistical preparations begin for the Games fewer than six years away."
